•Design of experiment (DOE), execution and analysis of four thesis projects on novel thin films with work contributing to grant renewal•Design and fabrication of metallic structures, circuits and silicon nitride membranes on silicon wafers. Resulting devices are used to perform fundamental transport measurements of thin metallic, semiconducting and insulating films. •Lead and developed process flow of semiconductor fabrication on 100mm wafers. Fabrication work performed at CINT (Center for Integrated Nanotechnology, Albuquerque, New Mexico) in coordination with staff to achieve fabrication and processing goals•Fabrication processing including clean room work, optical photolithography, e-beam thin film deposition, semiconductor processing, etch processing and sample preparation•Material engineering and study of electrical and thermal transport properties of thin film semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotube thin films for use as thermoelectric materials for power generation•Study of magnon contributions to thermopower and thermal conductivity of ultra-low magnetic damping ferromagnetic metal (CoFe) for use as thermoelectric or spintronic applications•Probing spin and electrical transport in amorphous semiconductors (a-YIG and Germanium)•Work performed in collaboration with a variety of institutes, who provided some of our materials of research. Roles included coordinating material exchange, organizing meetings and communicating research goals. Collaborating institutes include CSU (Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO), NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology, Boulder, CO) and NREL (National Renewable Energy Lab, Golden, CO)•Growth of metals, magnetic metals, semiconductors and disordered magnetic insulating thin films via ultra-high vacuum electron beam evaporation and thermal evaporation •Use of MATLAB PDE toolbox to explore thermal modeling of 2D and 3D microscopic structures
