Wrote a 450-page novel. The book explores why certain challenges facing ancient civilizations have persisted into modern society, and reflects on how these challenges may be overcome. The process of structuring the novel consisted of embedding a curriculum into an exciting narrative.

The Ala Moshiri Vitreo Retinal Laboratory is focused on piloting therapeutics and researching genetic diseases of the retina.● As lab manager I conducted multiple research projects simultaneously, founded and maintained a 200+ animal mouse colony, and wrote 20+ laboratory SOPs● Trained, supervised, and mentored seven undergraduate research assistants● Presented research to my lab, department, and at a national conference poster session; presented literature reviews; helped prepare manuscripts for publication● Characterized two novel retinal degenerations in mice (published); developed fluorescent sensors to study the retinoid cycle● Co-Presenter with Dr. Ala Moshiri of Poster: Deficiency of Arap1 Causes Progressive Retinal Degeneration in Mice. The Pablo Ross laboratory uses cell and embryo culture models to characterize embryo preimplantation development, with an emphasis on epigenetics and assisted reproductive techniques in livestock species.● Characterized epigenetic marks in cow embryos (published); discovered 2,404 imprinted gene candidates in cow and buffalo embryos via RNA-Seq analysis (prepared manuscript draft)● Presented research and scientific articles at lab meetings

The Judith Campisi Laboratory researches the role of senescent cells in cancer and aging.● Presented scientific articles at lab meetings and my research at a Buck Institute/SENS Foundation poster symposium● Established human and mouse gene overexpression cell lines to study how growth factors influence wound healing in mice

● Tutored a local Davis, CA high school student one day a week in general chemistry; her grade improved from a C to an A

The Beacon Program is a peer-assisted learning program where students who have performed well in a class work directly with one instructor to provide additional instruction and tutoring to currently enrolled students.● Lectured on organic chemistry topics (e.g., NMR, reaction mechanisms) to groups of 10-15 students for 50 minutes twice a week (courses: CHEM 420, CHEM 421) ● Created worksheets with practice problems; previewed exams for the course professor

The Collaborative Research and Education in Agricultural Technologies and Engineering - Research Experience for Undergraduates is a National Science Foundation funded internship focused on giving undergraduate students research experience in the field of plant biotechnology.● Studied genetically modified rice strains to determine their potential as a biofuel source; presented research at a poster symposium ● Completed course that taught common plant biotechnology laboratory techniques and gave an overview of plant science research at UC Davis; presented lab results to faculty

● Taught life sciences, astronomy, geology, team-building, and outdoor skills to groups of 8-16 students grades 4-12 on week-long field trips at remote outdoor sites around California● Designed curriculum and activities for 11-hour days based on client's core objectives, site resources, and age of students● Managed scheduling, equipment and food for groups of 50-200 staff, chaperones and students

● As part of the Pitzer in Costa Rica program I studied tropical, marine, and human ecology. I performed jungle transects, stream surveys, and interviewed 25 Costa Ricans in Spanish to find ways to integrate conservation and development
