Thesis work examined the effects of printing technology changes on Chinese lineage groups by examining genealogies over the past millennium. Involved image processing, character recognition, natural language processing, algorithmic development to handle data pipeline. Demonstrated a shift from tightly held lineage organizations to "lineage nets" that emphasize connectivity rather than exclusivity.
