I graduated with a degree in Business Administration for the University of Oregon, where I studied marketing, entrepreneurship, and computer science. While the things I learned in the classroom were crucial to my success, my experiential learning through extra-curricular work continues to drive me to where I am today. My computer science course work drove me to explore programming, and led to my first side-software project, which pushed me to invest in my programming skills more than any class, or grade, ever could have. After a year of iterative development, pivots and pitch competitions (two of which brought home awards), graduation confronted my team with the reality that this project was going nowhere.Post-grad, I joined a fledgling team where I met some of the most personally influential people I know to date. During my first year as a Channel Sales Manager, I learned to run events, honed my confidence in front of crowds, and how to build a book of business. In that time, pain points in our event management became clear - so I took on the challenge of developing a simple app to manage registration and attendance. Once again, experience showed my that while the technical ability to build a minimal viable product was there, there wasn't a business there.18 months later, after touring the country to present at over 20 events, and one annual keynote, I made the decision to join another growing team. Now, as the 4th most senior member of my team, I've had the opportunity to participate in the development of a second organization, and be part of securing almost a billion dollars of revenue.Once again, I found a problem to solve - this time in my own home. After the birth of my son, I found that some attention and tweaks to the home technology I'd installed in my home could make life with a newborn slightly easier. I doubled down on home automation, and built a system for my wife and I that allows us to control almost anything we need to with full hands. From our locking our front door, to dimly turning on our kitchen lights at 3am to warm a bottle. While my tactile interest is in what technology can do, my passion is what technology can do for the people who use it - whether it's in the data center, or at home.My name is Devin Mathew Santamaria.
