I am a scientist with expertise in applied psychology. I focus on the ‘human element’ in complex systems, and I work within a range of topics including decision making, cognitive biases, mis/disinformation belief, risk perception, and interactions between humans and automation/AI. I work for the Canadian Nuclear Laboratories as a Human Performance Scientist. I lead a number of projects that examine human performance issues in the nuclear sector.From simulator-based experiments to interviews with helicopter pilots and public health leaders, I am experienced in applying a range of quantitative and qualitative methods of research. The insights generated manifest themselves in recommendations and guidelines to improve human performance and usability.I have maintained a track record of publishing in journals and conferences for over 10 years. I completed my PhD in Information Sciences & Technology from Penn State (2012). I also bring experiences from a number of institutions I have worked in including Georgia Tech, University of Waterloo, Alberta Health Services, and University of Maryland. I have served as an Instructor for an Interface Design course at the University of Waterloo.
