The replacement of the major electrical equipment occurs in six occupied buildings. The buildings involved are for medical, office and laboratory/research use.

The scope of work also included the remodel of five 36,000 sq. ft floors, to create new and modern office spaces for the building’s tenants.

UT Medical Branch Bio Containment Critical Care UnitGalveston, TXThe Biocontainment Critical Care Unit (BCCCU) is the fifth of its kind in the country. The concept was to adapt BSL-3 level laboratory containment into a functional critical care unit inside of the University of Texas Medical Branch Emergency Department. The project contained a standalone mechanical space that housed its own HVAC systems, medical gas and vacuum station, and telecommunications system. Along with the extensive upgrades to create a segregated mechanical space, the project required the construction of 7 BCCCU patient rooms.

UT Medical Branch District Heating and Cooling SystemGalveston, TXThis project involved extensive work throughout the University of Texas Medical Branch’s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Job specifics included substantial selective and intricate demolitions, additions, and modifications throughout the hospital campus. This project was comprised of 30 different buildings. The existing hospital campus steam heating system was converted to hot water heating systems and/or modified to follow new UTMB requirements.
