As a member of the editorial team at Passion Passport, I was responsible for researching and writing travel features and profiles, as well as practical guides to cities around the world. I worked with freelance contributors to ready their stories for publication and proofread all content from editorial team, improving each story’s grammar, adherence to style, and readability. Additionally, I collaborated with the social team to create promotional copy for our Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook pages, and I assisted the marketing team in drafting client proposals and landing page copy. During my time there, I pitched and developed my own weekly series called “The Layover.”

The Miami Student is the largest student-run media organization at Miami University. It prints every Tuesday during the school year and publishes online content throughout the week. As the only newspaper in Oxford, OH, its mission is to provide its readers with consistent coverage of Miami and the surrounding community. In addition to my continued work reporting and writing, as a Managing Editor, I was responsible for the organization, structure, scheduling and content of the Culture and Opinion sections. I worked closely with the Editor-in-Chief to help manage budget meetings and print production. The Miami Student comprises a large staff of editors, writers, photographers and graphic designers, and as a leader in the newsroom, I communicated regularly with everyone on our team to ensure we were producing high-quality content and adhering to proper journalistic standards.

The Culture section of The Miami Student covers life on campus and in the surrounding community. It publishes, on average, 8-10 articles a week on a variety of topics including, arts and theatre, student organizations and local events. Culture also is home to the Humans of Oxford feature, which produces short profiles of students, faculty and community members, and it occasionally runs slice of life pieces and works of creative nonfiction. As the Editor, my responsibilities included:— Assigning stories and editing all content—Guiding and supporting a team of 12 writers through the reporting, writing and revision processes—Communicating with the Photo Editor to coordinate photo opportunities for the section's content—Contributing to staff editorials
