Having diversified experience and career accomplishments in the field of pharmaceutical marketing for over 10 years, I had exposure to working with doctors, nurses, and hospital personnel very closely. This exposure led me to develop a natural inclination to do voluntary work in hospitals over the years. There have been many occasions I have offered voluntary work at the cancer hospital, in Colombo. I have not obtained any letters or certificates for my voluntary work. However, I regularly offered my voluntary work at The National Hospital of Sri Lanka from August 2019 to July 2021 for approximately 10 hours per week whilst working full-time as a Medical Marketing Executive.Moreover, during my hospital voluntary work at The National Hospital, Colombo, my work involved working in supportive care and palliative care, participating in international and national palliative care workshops, assisting with physical therapy, assisting with injections, feeding tubes and other medical processes, helping with daily living tasks such as dressing/ grooming, bathing. Aiding patients in and out of bed, coordinating medical appointments and transporting patients to the doctor/clinic. ordering and collecting medication from the chemists, discussing the care plan and needs with doctors and care managers andmanaging patients’ daily needs. I have trained and obtained NVQ3 training as a Care Giver at Sri Lanka Foreign Bureau and completed the First Aid and Safety Course in the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society, First Aid— Level 3, CPR & AED, Child Care First Aid. My passion and desire are to invest my time, energy, love, and care in the people who need it. My desire is to continue understanding the mindset of the elderly, terminally ill or differently able people by sharing love, compassion, and empathy, giving them hope and offering care assistance in their daily activities.
