In this work, I take a… Show more During my time as an Instructor at Oregon State University, I taught three terms of a 300 level Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies class that uses Disney films and products to analyze and explore themes of gender, race, and systems of power and oppression (WGSS 325: Disney: Gender, Race, and Empire). While teaching these courses, I had control over syllabus, assigned readings, assigned projects, lessons plans, and taught the course as sole instructor. In this work, I take a pedagogical approach that centers the diverse needs of my students as fundamental to the course trajectory. I aim to ensure that every student in the class is challenged and is able to succeed. I recognize that the most important things a student will get out of my class are skills in critical thinking, communication, and collaboration and I use course content as a vehicle to develop these skills.
