My research focuses on the extent to which various life experiences affect an individual’s response to stress, and its connection to mental health. Currently, my project focuses on the connection between adolescent discrimination, neural reactivity to stress, and mental health. I am using fMRI approaches to investigate how stress-evoked brain activity changes with increased amounts of discrimination. For another project, I am looking at the effects of racial disparity on the stress response.

Evaluation of the oncolytic ability of Theiler’s murine encephalomyelitis virus (TMEV) in glioblastoma cell lines GL26 and GL261. The role of microtubules on the coalescence of viral RNA-dependent RNA polymerase and effects on efficient production of Theiler’s murine encephalomyelitis virus.

Coordinate and manage the College of Natural and Health Sciences annual Research Symposium. Including: location management, creating the abstract booklet, and student presenter management. The 2019 symposium consisted of over 70 student projects. Duties included: coordinate all information relevant to each project, compile and organize information into the abstract book, create symposium schedule and set up the space for the symposium.

Prepare and maintain microorganisms/bacteria for the upper division Microbiology, Virology and Immunology courses. Including: create and maintain all culture parent plates, student culture plates/tubes, and prepare all media necessary for growth and experiments.
