About Devon Haynes
My history with work and where I found myself is a little extensive. I started with odd jobs and finally found myself at my childhood camp helping in the kitchen for summer work. I was in culinary school at the time, however the lifestyle wasn't for me. I was living in Denver so I found myself at apex park and other trail systems in the area alot. That next summer I applied for a mountain biking counselor position, leading to the seasonal lifestyle for a few years. Keystone and Estes park mostly, with some Steamboat and Colorado Springs thrown in. I had found myself amassing a lot of physical skills, and knowledge of outdoor activities. Skills such as Ski and Snowboard tuning, some more bicycle trail maintenance, along with opportunities to learn some plumbing, electrical, woodworking, and automotive. Following my final summer on the Transportation/maintenance crew for the camp, I decided to try and go back to school to at least try for a degree. I received my associates for Outdoor Leadership and Recreation Technology. That degree got me interested in the side of outdoor recreation that wasn't as flashy and extreme. I really became interested in the Useful wild plants of Colorado, also finding myself interested in the technology of outdoor recreation garments in particular. I found myself working in retail and as an adventure guide, for at first REI and a day camp then for The North Face and a zip-line company. After that I found my self at a wonderful non-profit used gear store but then an opportunity presented its self for me to explore a new place. I took it at the loss of a assistant manager position at the gear store but I did find my self in a land of accessibility. I currently work as a bike technician on the western slope of Colorado, and I am the go to ride wrap technician at my shop. I am interested in all facets of the outdoor industry and I love working for community building organizations and teaching people all about the skills and technology needed to enjoy the outdoors in a comfortable, enriching way.
