Automation Specialist
CurrentServe as a Control Systems Engineering Team member implementing systems integration projects by understanding customer requirements, performing controls system architectural design, design and program HMIs and PLCs, testing and acceptance of automation programs, on-site start-up, customer training, writing of documentation, and coordinate with co-workers, customers, and vendors.-Assist in most aspects of system integration projects by identifying parts and components for PLC, network, computer, and software components, programming PLCs and HMIs, testing functionality of program logic and installed equipment, troubleshooting software and systems issues during start-up, and developing and assembling required documentation and user manuals created during the development process.-Work with project managers and estimators to assess potential projects and submit proposals-Read and interpret diagrams and documentation as well as communicate with customers-Develop requirements for control panels and approve designs-Interpret documents detailing the control system functionality for the purpose of writing PLC logic-Program controllers with connections up to thousands of input/output points-Develop the Human Machine Interface (HMI)-Develop hardware and software test plans and write simulation logic for the testing of the PLC and HMI systemAt client sites:-Supervise the installation of the systems as needed-Test the installed system functionality and to assure that the programs function as designed-Troubleshoot problems during startup due to incorrect drawings, changes in customer desires, incorrect instrumentation specifications, etc-Diagnose and resolve software and hardware interface issues-Train customers on use and operation of client-specific system integration software-Team approach to develop alternative system and software design solutions-Respond to service calls to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair programming and system failures
