In May, I started work on the DevOps team where I have learned even more about Agile strategies, especially in regards to mobile development. Check out some highlights from my time as a DevOps Engineer!● Created and maintained 80+ mobile and cloud CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps and Jenkins, reducing the manual code release process by 100+ hours per week ● Worked to migrate cloud systems to Docker and Kubernetes, projected to cut cloud costs by half● Acted as database admin for MongoDB resources: managed data access scripts, indexes, passwords, and connection strings● Monitored and maintained 5 production cloud systems, assuring 99.9% availability ● Wrote 10+ terraform modules to deploy dozens of cloud resources, shaping our coded infrastructure to be reusable● Released 3 new apps and 4 existing apps to App Store and Google play

During my time at Legrand, I have worked as an Android Development Intern to implement the mobile app for Legrand Smart Lights. This was a unique project because we had to work to move all of our customers from one cloud provider (Samsung's Artik) to an in-house cloud system. We had a set deadline for when Samsung cut the cord, so I learned how to remove unnecessary features and prioritize time. Here are some highlights from my time as an Android Developer:● Optimized app load time and implemented new UI features for Android (Kotlin) app● Worked with Mokk to create unit tests for Kotlin code and participated in 300+ pull requests ensuring codebase health● Built and maintained a postman environment for our IoT cloud API, saving 1 hour of onboarding time per new engineer

As a Research Assistant, I had a lot of freedom to innovate solutions to research problems. My first project was to create an artificial man-in-the-middle attack by modifying the Android version of a secure messaging app called Signal. To do so, I connected the app to a simple C-server which would send a bit back to the app when it was time to initiate the simulation. We then used this modified app to run user studies to learn more about user behavior in regards to security.In my next project, my co-researchers had created an email client using Vue.js that interfaced with Gmail's API. My task was to create a separate database that could hold emails, but would also work seamlessly with the real Gmail emails. The second email database would give us the liberty to modify emails as needed during a user study. To create this, I used firebase because of its real-time update capabilities, which gave our fake emails the ability to be sent and received in real time. I designed the database and wrote the code that would integrate the emails from both our database and the Gmail database. Over the course of the year that I was employed at the Internet Research Lab, I took part in three research papers, two of which were published in prestigious research conferences. The first was published in CHI (Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems) and the second in SOUPS (Symposium on Usable Privacy and Security).

This is where the Theatrical Magic happens for all of BYU's musicals, plays, and operas. I had a blast building Texas trailer parks, eccentric mansions, cozy homes, and even a 40 foot clock; all while jamming out to 80's rock!I actually started as a painter/carpenter, but as my supervisor watched as I became more capable with my carpentry and welding skills, he began to task me with bigger projects. By the time I ended this job, I had trained 8+ carpenters, supervised dozens of smaller builds, and became head carpenter.
