This volunteer position at our local food pantry proved to be rewarding and at times challenging. On Saturday mornings throughout the year, and 1-2 days during the week, I was able to assist low income families, and disadvantaged individuals, grocery shop and fill basic needs through donated goods. As an assistant, I would guide them through the various products while they chose what would best meet their needs. During the week, we would re-stock shelves, rotate inventory and plan for the upcoming weekend.
