Working at Tait Farm allowed me to further my interests in organic agriculture through harvesting, processing, and preparing the farm for the next planting season.

Tait Farm allowed me to keep my farming interests fresh at Penn State by working every Saturday for a week’s worth of produce. After working here and the Common Ground Farm, I now have a more well-rounded experience of different organic farm practices, which has emphasized to me that there are often more than one solution to a task or problem.

I was quickly introduced to leadership and accountability during my Freshman year at Penn State when I became an Eco-Rep. My job was to work with a team to educate our peers on sustainable practices while making this fun and productive. We planned and coordinated events like ice cream socials, individually hosted two events throughout the year, and led two major challenges between resident halls to encourage recycling and energy conservation efforts. I was taught to be patient when people are not receptive to my efforts, and the measure of accomplishment when people are receptive.
