My name is Devon McNeil. At the age of twelve years old, while most kids my age were riding bikes and playing video games, I was on the street corner selling crack cocaine and carrying guns. At the age of twenty two years old, I selfishly shot and killed a young man. And as a direct result of me committing that senseless act of violence, I spent twenty years of my life in prison. I was mentally manipulated and socially engineered to believe that a life of crime would provide me with all the material things that my heart desired. While incarcerated, I lost everything. My mother (fentanyl overdose), my little brother (fentanyl overdose), and a host of family and friends. I can never give back what I’ve taken from this world, but I can spend the rest of my life directing and guiding the youth through my words of atonement, faith, wisdom and redemption. I’ve spoken at the following locations: Tufts University, North Eastern University, high schools, colleges, churches and numerous youth community centers. Please allow my words to assist in saving our youth. I experienced all of the pain and suffering so they wouldn’t have to. #TheStreetsLied
