Curricular:MYP Individuals and Societies Teacher - Grade 6 (2016-17), Grade 6/7 (2017-18).MYP Design Teacher - Grade 6 (2016-17).At SWIS the Middle Years Program highlights intellectual challenge and we encourage our students, grade 6 to 10, to make connections between what they learn and the world they live in, preparing them for success in the future. Our program enables students to question into a wide range of topics and ideas of significance locally, nationally and globally. The result is young people who are creative, critical and reflective thinkers.SWIS subject teachers work collaboratively to plan the curriculum both vertically and horizontally from grades 6 to 10. The content and skills for each subject have been carefully selected to ensure that they are relevant and challenging and that there is continuity and progression of learning. Each subject organizes its course into units of work. For each unit teachers identify key and related concepts, global contexts and subject group objectives. Teachers also identify the specific Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills and the attributes of the IB Learner Profile that will be developed through each unit of work. The curriculum also offers opportunities for interdisciplinary learning when two or more subjects work together on a common concept and skills within a global context. Provided one on one support to a child with Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD), also known as Autism Spectrum Disorder. In the before school setting I help supervise and promote appropriate social interaction between the child in question and his peers while ensuring a safe environment for all students involved.
