CurrentManaged infrastructure and database administration teams. Teams were responsible for applications, networks, servers, storage, phone systems and databases. Supported a 25% increase in employees, addition of multiple offshore development teams, and a doubling of internal and customer-facing applications.Upgraded and replaced corporate infrastructure, including storage, networks, servers, firewalls and VPN. Virtualized 98% of servers on VMWare 5 (over 200 virtual machines). Infrastructure was designed with N+1 capacity, able to sustain functionality despite the failure of any specific component.Supported remote site expansion. Added remote office in Calgary, integrated two acquired companies, and migrated three sites to new locations. Upgraded and standardized networks, servers, and phone systems throughout all offices. Implemented redundant MPLS carriers, and expanded internet connectivity to 6 times original capacity.Implemented comprehensive disaster recovery solution. Built offsite DR location able to support the entire company’s user base and processing capacity. Replaced a backup solution based on BackupExec and tape retention to one based on Veeam backups for VMWare, NetApp snapshot and replication capability, and offsite disk storage.Supported and managed applications. Created deployment standards and procedures for custom applications based on SQL Server, IIS, SharePoint and .NET. Trained and managed teams in India, Slovokia and the US on these processes. Deployments were for both internal and customer-facing applications, supporting over ten thousand users.Improved department processes and procedures. Implemented SharePoint as a shared knowledgebase for our team. Instituted annual external audits of our storage, network and phone systems. Implemented tracking systems to manage an expense budget of $4 million and a capital budget of $2 million. Successfully came in under budget each year.
