Roles focus on the ORCA Organic Digester, include fielding customer service requests and inquires, organizing freight for purchased and leased equipment, maintaining relationships with stakeholders and vendors, as well as managing fieldworker schedules and dispatching service requests. Llamawear is a small business I started during the summer break while in university as part of the student program, Ontario Summer Company, funded by the Government of Ontario. Through the program I was taught not only the basics of running a small business, but also time management, organization, professionalism, public speaking and sales tatics. Since graduating from Trent University, the business has become my number one priority. I sell my jewelry and crafts locally and internationally through www.etsy.com. So many art markets are flooded with jewelry makers and it can often be difficult solidifying sales within such a competitive market. I have learned a softer approach to acquiring jewelry sales which usually starts with a friendly conversation and moves towards the different types of products and materials used in the products. I have always made money at the end of a craft market because of this tactic towards sales and the customer.

Works daily with potential adopters, volunteers, and veterinary staff at the animal shelter to meet adoption targets and quality of care standards. Through education informs the public of best care practices for a variety of animal species including rabbits, rodents, birds, reptiles and amphibians. Has developed strong communication and education skills through interviewing adopters and training volunteers. Started a toy making program with volunteers and shelter visitors to create numerous types of toys to enrich the stay of all the animals at the shelter. Everyday at the shelter is different and usually potential adopters come to us with lots of questions and only a general idea of the type of pet they would like to adopt. Because of the nature of the department I work in, which can have over 15 different types of species available for adoption at once, I usually have to walk through the needs and wants of the adopter (and their family), to match them with the more suitable pet or pets. It is such a rewarding experience and the best part of the day is seeing the smiling family walk out the door with their new furry family member.
