Bsquared is a very small company that offers software to schools to track pupil progress. While working there I got to work in various roles for the company. During my probation period I worked as support for customers and did training for SEO, however; as my role developed; so, did the office. I assisted with building and setting up staff computers and desks. During my time, I was given 6 sites to manage and eventually was fully in charge of the support site which included redesigning the site to be more user friendly. I also merged two sites and wrote the support articles, so that they were more up to date with the current software. I then decided to provide further help to our customers by offering free meetings to help them with setting up our software.

I volunteered for a local radio show in my spare time. I assisted with behind the scenes work such as filming BTS videos, podcast production and photography for their social medias.

I worked as an intern for Quortus for 6 weeks. Quortus work with the University of Surrey and the government to produce systems for 5G. I was given many jobs around the company, the first two weeks I worked on all of their broken/non-working hardware and either fixed it or organised the broken parts for disposal. The next two weeks I worked on developing VMs (Virtual Machines) for the support and development team with Linux and windows, as well as working on containers which are currently being used to test and fix the current systems. In the final week I worked on automatic scripting in python for the servers, to test that they work correctly.

I worked at Carphone Warehouse for 3 months as a sales assistant selling phones and learning how to use the till systems to set up contracts and insurance for customers. I learnt about stock systems, how to manage and maintain a store whilst keeping it up to date/clean. I balanced this alongside my first year of my university; managing both my workload from the university as well as working at the store.

I have been to 6 annual camps, two 2-day 40k walks, clay pigeon shooting, and much more. I was in the cadets for 7 years; 3-star training to be a 4-star in band cadets which I was the senior flutist and 3-star training in army cadets. I performed with my band at many different places; 6 remembrance parades and 5 times at Sandhurst open day, 4 Rourke’s Drift concerts in Wales with a band of 180 premier cadet musicians of the UK. I have used and learnt a lot of army skills, from map reading to shooting and archery. I have been awarded a certificate of outstanding service to the army cadet force by the Lord Lieutenant of Surrey. To receive my award, I attended an evening ceremony with HM armed forces personal, the commandant of Surrey, reserve forces, local councillors, and HM Lord Lieutenant of Surrey, where upon I was called up to shake hands and receive the award. I also did an exchange with Norwegian home Guard for a week during February where we camped out in –20C

April 2015 & 2016, three weeks.The work I was involved with included, taking fault tickets from clients for customer support and making an intranet website for a school library. I developed the skills to code basic HTML and an understanding of webpage layout. I was able to program and write code in curl and python for their live severs, whilst learning about what life in an office environment was like.
