I was responsible for the design, assembly, and evaluation of an actuated wrist orthosis for upper extremity rehabilitation.Specifically:- Designed over 50 parts in Solidworks while modifying over 50 others with appropriate tolerances using GD&T- Designed and building signal conditioning circuitry, including implementing a voltage regulator, voltage converters, variable gain amplifiers, and analog filters- Managed prototype development: (1) Oversaw part production by machining or 3D printing (2) Performed all mechanical assembly, ensuring part fits (3) Built housing and mounting brackets for electronics enclosure; created wiring harnesses and connector plugs- Developed a position-based control algorithm using the Simulink environment featuring system dynamics modeling- Wrote more than 15 scripts and custom functions in MATLAB for real-time data processing and statistical analysis- Wrote IRB-approved protocols to collect upper limb trajectory data from normal functioning subjects- Performed statistical analysis of collected data using descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, variance) for univariate and bivariate analysis, creating artificial neural networks for regressive modeling, principle component analysis, and K-means clustering- Created and implemented test protocols for device validation - Communicated with vendors to select best parts for ideal device performance- Built relationships with manufacturers while troubleshooting device issues- Provided technical documentation for progress and state of the device

I assisted in the design of an alarm clock that awakens the user based on sleep stage data obtained from an extracted EEG signal.Specifically:- Collected EEG data using 2-channel configuration with Biopac data acquisition unit- Designed a digital filter and amplifier to process the raw EEG signal- Wrote MATLAB code to identify sleep stages based on frequency power- Led meetings and delegated responsibilities with the design team; helped maintain the broad picture goals of the project
