The position was two fold: to provide emergency services for the Emergency Department, as well as to provide medical management for postoperative patients that were admitted to the hospital following surgical procedures.Emergency Medicine Services included evaluation and treatment of lacerations, fractures, abdominal pain, acute febrile illness, uncontrolled diabetes, etc.Postoperative Medical Management included evaluation and treatment of DVT risk, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, renal disease, pulmonary disease (COPD, atelectasis), etc.

I was involved in all aspects of direct patient care, from assessment of new patients in clinic to first assisting in a wide variety of surgical procedures involving the spine, and immediate postoperative hospital care.

I provided direct patient care with clinical assessment and treatment of a wide variety of gastrointestinal and internal medicine diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease (UC and Crohn’s) and liver disease (Hepatitis C, steatohepatitis, cirrhosis), as well as refractory diabetes and hypertension, etc.
