As part of a global Exploration and Production knowledge and information management program (EP One) Shell implemented SAP Enterprise Portal version 5 in a Business to Employee Scenario. Objectives of the portal were to enable Shell EP employees in constructing personalized dashboards of information requirements that fit their day to day role and activities. In my role as Team Leader of the Information Analysis and Architecture role was to lead the team that translated the functional requirements of the business into functional requirements for the Java and .Net development team, manage application architecture and design and implement the processes for the project and service phase of the Portal Service.

As part of their international effort to standardize the server- and desktop-environments (called the SDE/NTE initiative) I was contracted as the project manager for migrating the Novell servers at Shell Central Office (The Hague) and Shell Centre (London) to the new NT server platform. Responsibilites included the planning and management of user and departmental data migrations.

With over 1400 employees Holland Railconsult is one of the Netherlands' largest engineering firms. The engineers and designers are specialists in the areas of mobility and new transport concepts. They develop solutions for contemporary transport issues and advise authorities, transport companies and the industry. In August 1998 Holland Railconsult contracted PinkRoccade IT Management and IBM to migrate their 2000 desktops to Windows NT Workstation within 3 months (due to a re-organization of Holland Railconsult starting 01.01.1999). I took on the responsibility for general customer management, aiming to maximize end-user satisfaction within the boundaries of the very fast project planning. In the final evaluation, end-user satisfaction scored 8.3 on a scale 1-10, which significantly surpassed the target of 5.5 set by the client.
