Devra Hock-Reid, Ph.D. Email and Phone Number
I currently work as the Assistant Curator for Science Education at the New Jersey State Museum. I enjoy developing programs and workshops, as well as applying my scientific knowledge to an exhibits team as the educational/interpretation role. I am also interested in research on exhibits and programming within museums. I am a highly organized project manager with strong time management and communication skills. I am proficient in developing and working on multiple projects at a time, often with different timelines. I work well in a team but can work just as well independently. I recently finished my Ph.D. at University of Nebraska-Lincoln in mammalian trait distribution and the usefulness of multiple traits as paleoecological proxies. Additionally, I have collaborated on an essay on inclusive exhibit design in natural history museums. I enjoy informal education and have worked at multiple summer camps ages middle to high school on a variety of scientific topics, as well as participating in multiple outreach events at the University of Nebraska State Museum. I previously served as the Communications Coordinator for Association of Women Geoscientists, as well as a lab instructor for introductory geology labs at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I have also worked at University of Nebraska State Museum as a collections assistant, aiding in acquisition and curation of new specimens. I previously completed my Master of Science in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at UNL and Bachelor of Science in Earth Sciences with concentration in Paleontology, Minor in Museum Studies at Montana State University with magna cum laude.
