Decision analysis is a formal, mathematical approach to analyzing difficult decisions faced by clinical decision makers. Most clinical decision analyses are based on a decision tree incorporating hard data and soft intuition in probabilistic calculations that formalize the analysis to help patients and doctors make the best choice in treatment.
