About Devapratim Sarma
Dev Sarma, PhD, is a postdoctoral researcher under Dr. Douglas Weber working across the Weber Lab in the CMU Department of Mechanical Engineering as well as part of the Rehab Neural Engineering Labs in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Sarma received his Doctorate in Bioengineering with a focus on Neural Engineering from the University of Washington where he was a foundational trainee member of the NSF Center for Neurotechnology (formerly the Center for Sensorimotor Neural Engineering) under the tutelage of center Director, Dr. Rajesh Rao, and UW Neurosurgeon, Dr. Jeffrey Ojemann. His doctoral work focused on developing and optimizing bidirectional electrocorticographic brain-computer interfaces for cognitive and motor rehabilitation. He was also previously a research associate at the University of California, San Diego's Swartz Center for Computational Neuroscience, where he worked on developing integrated systems for human mobile brain/body imaging. Dr. Sarma's current work involves characterizing the reflexive somatosensory activity related to microstimulation of the dorsal root ganglion for sensory restoration for lower limb amputees. This work builds the foundations for future sensorized closed loop lower extremity prosthetic devices.
Listed skills include Neural Engineering, Non Invasive Brain Computer Interfaces, Analysis Of Electrocorticography, Digital Signal Processing, and 24 others.
