Data Science InternViome May 2019 - Dec 2019Bellevue, Washington, UsPerformed clustering of high dimensional metatranscriptomic data for the Viome population using various clustering algorithms including CURE, DBSCAN, Gaussian Mixture Models, Spectral Clustering and visualized the results using t-SNE.Effectively reduced dimensions from 7000 to 40 capturing 96% of the explained variance using Stacked Denoising autoencoders, Poisson Matrix Factorisation (Z-NMF), and Non-negative Matrix Factorisation.Performed cluster analysis and found statistically significant associations (gender, age, disease symptoms, etc.) using the health-related questionnaire with the clusters.Built various machine models to predict diseases including diabetes, obesity using the reducing dimensions improving the f1-score (almost doubling) in a few cases. -
