Working in the 401 & Buffer Permitting Branch of the Water Quality Permitting Section in the North Carolina Division of Water Resources (DWR) as a primary point of contact for the 401 Water Quality Certification Program, Isolated Wetlands/Waters Program and the Riparian Buffer Programs (the Programs) for the DWR.Assist other branch staff in acting as the liaison between the 401 & Buffer Permitting Branch Central Office and seven (7) DWR regional offices to ensure consistent implementation of the programs across the state, including how the programs relate with coastal development in North Carolina. I also provide technical assistance to the regulated public, consultants and other agencies with respect to the programs, and will develop guidance as it pertains to the programs.Utilize firm knowledge of rules and regulations for protecting streams, wetlands and riparian buffers to provide technical reviews of development project designs and plans that are submitted to the DWR as an Individual 401 Water Quality Certification, an Individual Isolated Waters Permit, and major exceptions approvals from the riparian buffer rules.
