My passion is mainly in architecture, especially feng shui. As one of Chinese Metaphysics branches, feng shui is usually noted as a mystical thing that cannot be explained and moreover, it is then seen as a belief system. In many years of practising and learning, I have found that feng shui actually is very close to architecture. In architecture we learn how to manage spaces, to contain activity flows, to make the air flow well, to get the sun's optimum energy, and lastly to apply technologies accordingly. In feng shui, there are many formulas to be chosen and they can be used for the same purposes.The real challenge in architecture, in conjuction with feng shui, is the final form. There are lots of "ugly" synthesis which makes feng shui the main reason of them. In the end, it is said to be better avoided in all means of architecture. In short, it is said that : whenever feng shui is involved, the form will be bad-looking. In my practise, I always find that in a good functioning design, there is a good feng shui. It is a priviledge for being an architect; when we successfully create good spaces, good feng shui is there, whether it is intended or not.Feng shui is not merely application of sophisticated theories and complicated formulas. It's the energy that we will make use of. All the theories and formulas can help us to detect it, however, it still depends on how we embrace it to enhance our quality of lives. While in architecture terms, it is the quality of spaces that have been built, where people can use and enjoy the good atmosphere.
