I am seeking a Civil Engineering Internship position for the summer of 2024. I believe my academic background in engineering, alongside my strong math aptitude, will allow me to both serve and grow within an engineering firm. I will complete my BSCE Civil Engineering degree and BS Mathematics degree at California Baptist University during the spring of 2025. After graduating, I plan to get a master’s degree in the field of engineering with the end goal of becoming a licensed civil engineer. Ever since I can remember I have enjoyed numbers and counting. In elementary school my teachers often said I had good number sense. My understanding of numbers led me to develop a love for mathematics, which led to my interest in engineering. I enjoy the challenge of finding the most efficient way to solve a problem, a good quality for a future engineering intern. My choice to major in Civil Engineering at California Baptist University stems from my desire to learn how to apply math to real-world situations. While taking the math classes required for my engineering degree, I found I enjoyed them so much that I decided to add mathematics as a second major to enhance my education. During summer break, I volunteered at the civil engineering firm Cozad & Fox, Inc. in Hemet, CA. Through this experience I was able to apply some of my academic experience using Microsoft Word, AutoCAD, and problem-solving skills to a real-world workplace. Volunteering at this firm solidified in me the desire to become a licensed civil engineer.I believe I can serve in an engineering firm because I am an excellent academic student, honest, easy to get along with, and enjoy working with others. Besides volunteering at the civil engineering company, I often tutor students at my former high school during college breaks. I have experience working with people from diverse backgrounds since I attended a public high school with a 71% minority enrollment, with 59% of that minority being Hispanic. In my free time I enjoy playing pickleball and video games.
