Since graduating with a desire to become a specialist rather than a generalist I've gained a detailed understanding of hydrologic, hydraulic, and water resources modelling. Since that time I have racked up over twelve years industry experience undertaking flood assessments in the private consulting space within Australia. Through this specialisation I've completed a large number of studies and assessments that have led to extensive experience and expertise in all facets of flooding and stormwater management issues; from the smallest residential lot flood impact assessments, to urban catchments as well as large 25,000+ km2 catchment rural flood studies. Projects have been undertaken for a wide variety of clients from individual home owners, small and large development companies, as well as numerous government agencies including local, regional and state governments across Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales, Tasmania and the Northern Territory. I've completed everything from the development and calibration of hydrologic and hydraulic models through to mitigation and development assessments, economic assessments, reporting and presenting results to a range of audiences. I have extensive experience with the application of ARR2016 best practices as well as complex hydrology in general. Due to my experience I regularly get called up on to undertake project reviews both on internal work as well as peer reviews for external clients.I have extensive experience in project management and community engagement which has led to the successful integration of community knowledge and facilitated client and community buy-in of the end products. I have also been responsible for internal training and supervision of junior staff and their professional development. Due to my experience in small and large companies I have been involved in all aspects of business development and procedures including the development of internal QA procedures and other business practices and policies.I have hands-on experience in most of the key hydrologic and hydraulic modelling packages commonly used with Australia including XP-RAFTS, RORB, WBNM, URBS, FLIKE, HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, and the DHI MIKE suite. In addition to modelling I have an interest in programming, particularly when it leads to increases in efficiency, productivity or reliability of a process.
