About Dexter Thomas

What I love most is designing digital experiences that make a real difference in people's lives. As a Senior Product Designer, I currently tackle complex problems, turning intricate systems into accessible, efficient tools for hospital staff.Looking back, I dropped out of high school due to adversity, but didn’t let that stop me. I taught myself web design and development, eventually leading major projects for Microsoft.com. Later, I transitioned into research, publishing studies with the NIH and teaching psychology and quantitative research methods at the University of Utah. I completed HCI coursework in my social psychology graduate program, which inspired my transition into UX.Since 2017, my focus has been on product design in healthcare. My background in coding and research helps me to approach problems holistically and create solutions that truly work. I’ve been fortunate to mentor emerging UX talent and foster a culture of innovation within my teams. I believe in the importance of collaboration and have developed DesignOps strategies to enhance teamwork and productivity.I am deeply grateful for the opportunities I've had and the people who have supported me along the way.
