In this position, I manage a variety of grants, contracts, programs, services, and staff. As a contract monitor for Quality Counts California (QCC), I ensured all provider contracts within my caseload were being implemented appropriately. QCC coaches were assigned to support agencies within my caseload, as such I also ensured coaches provided effective guidance and document quality improvement efforts. Additionally, I created, reviewed, and approved professional development training and workshops delivered to providers in the field of early childhood education. I am also the Child Care and Development Local Planning Council Coordinator. The Council is governed by the County Board of Supervisors and County Superintendent of Schools. As the coordinator I assess the county’s child care and workforce needs; as well as facilitate the preparation of a county-wide comprehensive child care plan. The Council is comprised of about 40 members. It is within my role to facilitate county-level meetings, develop and maintain state and county reports, and communicate/collaborate with the California State Departments of Education and Social Services.

In this position, I monitored, implemented, and supported San Diego Quality Preschool Initiative (QPI) services at the agency level in collaboration with each Agency Director within my caseload. Using data and research-based practice, I designed and presented workshops for teachers and administrators. To guarantee ongoing attention to improvement efforts in instructional strategies and teacher-child interactions, I provide one on one coaching to agency and site directors, while monitoring the work of Early Education Support Providers in their coaching efforts with teachers. I supervised and evaluated the work of management-level staff, ensuring quality services were delivered by maintaining and enhancing the quality of work produced.

In this position I provided on-site support and technical assistance to 11 licensed preschool sites, 51 licensed school-age before/afterschool sites, and 15 YMCA Child Watch facilities. I conducted and collected site visit assessment data on core compliance and quality standards to ensure regulatory compliance and continuous quality improvement. I used assessment data results to develop needed trainings, provide further technical assistance and coaching, and develop additional resources for Child and Youth Development Programs within the YMCA of San Diego County.

In this position I was responsible for program support, the research and development of assessment tools and methods, shared-supervision of NAEYC assessor corps, and monitoring the reliability of assessors and assessment tools. I conducted national and statewide professional development workshops on the NAEYC accreditation system as well as on maintaining and improving the quality of early childhood education programs. I worked on state contracts conducting crosswalks, pilot program assessments, and providing valuable feedback in the development and maintenance of state quality improvement rating systems (QRIS).
