I am an Intellectual Property Associate at Akerman LLP. My practice is focused on a broad range of intellectual property matters involving patents, trademarks, and copyrights. I assist clients in preparing, drafting, and prosecuting patent and trademark applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and abroad. I have experience with a variety of technologies including medical devices, electronics (software and hardware), internal combustion engines, solar panels, sensors, manufacturing processes, and inventions implementing artificial intelligence. I also conduct research and analysis on a variety of legal issues in support of patent and trademark litigation.Prior to attending law school, I worked as a Patent Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for 2.5 years, where I examined patent applications in the medical device arts. I have a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering with 4 years of industry experience working at federal agencies like the National Institutes of Health and Walter Reed Military Medical Center. As a law student, I was actively involved in organizations such as the Intellectual Property Law Society, the Cuban American Bar Association, and the Hispanic National Bar Association. I graduated from the University of Miami School of Law having completed a concentration in Business, Law, Innovation, and Technology.
