Formed a strategic partnership with Life Pulse LLC to launch a patented new non-invasive medical device for the refractory angina market.

Managed all aspects of quality/regulatory compliance, manufacturing engineering, global supply chain, order fulfillment, and new product development. Developed critical metrics and middle management competencies required to achieve and sustain profitability in an extremely high growth environment.

Joined fledgling start-up and was charged with finding or developing breakthrough low-cost solar technology, creating the company’s commercialization strategy, and serving as the key technology project manager. Assembled an elite team of scientists and senior technologists in Germany, the US, and UK, creating a patented technology. Shifting our commercialization strategy due to significant Silicon technology subsidies, we recently pivoted to a new management team and company name, highlighting the true strength of the technology: low light efficiencies many times that of Silicon solar cells.

I was hired into this role with the mandate to resolve issues with declining market share and customer satisfaction. Challenges included the need to lower costs, improve quality, boost margins, and integrate a recent acquisition. I led a team of 250 across multiple locations in China, Mexico, the US and Europe with accountability for operations, product development, engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, supply chain, warehousing, shipping/receiving and quality. Successes included cutting total operating costs by 11%, boosting on-time delivery by 70% and dramatically improving product quality. This was achieved through an integrated strategy that included restructuring operations, hiring new executives, reengineering processes, relocating/consolidating facilities, and launching groundbreaking new products.As a result of these successes, the company was successfully sold in accordance with the planned exit strategy.

Southwest Business Systems had been recently acquired and the new new owners hired me to build the infrastructure necessary to support rapid growth. I held full P&L and operational responsibilities, leading a team of 32 through 4 executive reports.Contributions included attaining 100% on-time delivery and growing sales 22% despite declining revenues from the company’s largest client.

My charge at BIC was to improve product development performance for the stationery division (writing instruments and correction products). I led a team of 95 highly trained project managers, chemists and engineers in France, China and the US with full accountability for sales of over $700M. During my two-year tenure, I led a complete turnaround. My new product development organization launched over 20 successful products, resulting in a 9x increase in sales from new products (from 2.3% of total revenue to 20% in just 2 years).

In this role, I grew sales for the writing division 20% by launching 8 successful new product platforms. I also cut R&D costs 40% while reducing the development cycle by 45%.
