Over two years ago, I invested in a leading biodegradable plastic manufacturing company, Bioxiplas, and spearheaded its market entry into the USA. As the exclusive distributor of Bioxiplas products in the United States, I successfully established a strong client base, particularly in Miami. By overseeing inventory management, logistics, and operational efficiencies, I grew the business by 300%. My leadership helped optimize the supply chain, ensuring timely product delivery and scalability, contributing significantly to the company’s rapid expansion.

As Chief Executive Officer of VelocityTX, I successfully acquired Alamo Angels, a business investment group founded in 2016, and assumed the role of Chairman of the Board. Following the acquisition, I led the strategic expansion of the Board of Directors, growing it from 4 to 12 members to strengthen the organization’s governance. I also hired an Executive Director to manage daily operations and support organizational growth. Under my leadership, Alamo Angels grew its membership from 24 to 152, bringing together an exclusive network of business leaders and corporate sponsors committed to promoting local business development. The organization identified and nurtured promising companies by providing financial investment, educational resources, and business services, contributing to the growth of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Alamo City.

As a board member of the International Business Innovation Association (InBIA), I was a big proponent of the organization’s rebranding from the National Business Incubation Association to reflect its global focus on innovation. After serving on the board, I transitioned to the staff to lead international programs, expanding InBIA’s global reach and promoting best practices in business incubation across international markets.

Steer the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission of "Building San Antonio one startup at a time".

Lead VelocityTX Innovation Center and Alamo Angels Network to help entrepreneurs to transform their dreams into innovative businesses that make San Antonio's prosperity a reality. • Develop and execute strategic planning for VelocityTX based on the Velocitytx’s mission, vision, core values and culture• Develop and execute strategic planning for Alamo Angels based on Alamo Angles mission, vision, and core values.• Managed a 17,000 square foot facility with 25 offices, 8 wet labs, 3 conference rooms, co-working space.• Directs the 16-week BioGlobal Accelerator, including program curriculum planning, development, execution, and budgets oversight. • Lead the creation of national/global partnerships with top-tier institutions to source the best bio companies and investment minds to San Antonio.• Establishes and maintains governmental, professional networks with related local, state, national, and international organizations and agencies. • Build and maintain rapport with clients, mentors, support staff, administration, consortium members, partner organizations, and other stakeholders as needed to carry out job responsibilities professionally and represent the organization in the highest regard.

• Work with CEO to establish ways to support Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Development in Emerging Economies• Lead the creation of global initiatives to retain and recruit the best entrepreneurial and investment minds to San Antonio. • Assist executive team to fill in the gaps that exist in the entrepreneurial ecosystem in San Antonio by taking a holistic approach to delivering the necessary resources through Angel Networks, Program Offerings, managing facilities, and recruited talent.• Lead Alliance of Texas Angel Network (ATAN) activities including relationship development with Executive Directors across 14 angel groups, monthly calls, syndications, and website development. In 2016, ATAN reported 632 accredited investors that invested over $34 million in 174 companies. Key accomplishments:o 2017 – Main partner of BIO+TECH Challenge – contest to support innovative entrepreneurship in early stages of organized growth and convened by Austral Incuba, business incubator of the Universidad Austral de Chile. The contest is aimed at attracting and supporting ventures in the field of life sciences, biotechnology and applied technologies, mainly linked to and focused on the agribusiness, food, aquaculture, forestry and health sectors.Supported the program by becoming the main partner and judge for the demo day. o 2017 – 6+3 Program with Brazil is the international fast track program for startups being accelerated by OBr (Outsource Brazil) in partnership with Velocity Texas. 6 represents the number of months the selected startups will accelerate in the Brazilian market, with the purpose to prepare for the international journey. The goal is to consolidate a permanent position in the market in the 3 remaining months, sponsored by Velocity, in San Antonio, Texas.

The Health Cell will leverage the collaborative spirit of San Antonio’s health and bioscience industry to engage, through unique personal and professional growth, the people who will propel the community toward maximum sector success.

As a Professor in the Executive Program of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Universidad del Rosario from 2019 to 2022, I taught the capstone course, “Business Plan,” which synthesized the knowledge from all program modules into a comprehensive final submission. I guided students through the process of developing actionable business plans, preparing them to apply entrepreneurial strategies in real-world scenarios. Additionally, I led the integration of global best practices into the program, including the introduction of the GrowthWheel framework, a renowned tool for business development, to enhance the university’s approach to entrepreneurship education.

Secured four-day training in Qatar.• Served as the lead InBIA’s representative for the State Department of United States Small Business Network of the Americas (SBNA) grant. The SBNA initiative is one of the most important entrepreneurship initiatives that the U.S. government has launched. Assisted the grant by promoting and supporting job creation in small and medium-sized enterprises and encourage greater trade among these businesses throughout the Americas. Also, expanded the pool of available resources for business development, enhanced access to business counseling services for entrepreneurs, and foster MSME growth by providing a framework that will allow small businesses to connect.

The InBIA is an international non-profit organization and global advocate for incubators, accelerators, educational institutions and regional economic development stakeholders. With nearly 2,200 members across over 60 countries, InBIA provides its members with essential information, education, advocacy and networking resources to bring excellence to the process of assisting early-stage companies succeed. The board of directors sets policy and directs the Association’s affairs; conducts strategic planning; sets financial objectives and monitors their achievements; shapes, approves, and evaluates programs and activities of the Association; and hires and evaluates the performance of InBIA’s chief staff executives. The Board also advises InBIA staff on issues pertaining to the entrepreneurial support ecosystem.

The SSAF Investment Committee aims to evaluate and select the projects to be financed by this public-private investment fund, which should be placed in high-impact, scalable innovation projects.

• Liaison between clients, advisory board, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, staff, and funding agencies such as the Economic Development Administration (EDA), State Department, State of Texas and City of Corpus Christi, to enhance collaboration to build the startup community in our region. • Managed a 35,000 square foot facility with 35 offices for client companies, co-working space, 3D printer, coffee shop, and home for the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle test site under the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). • Guided and motivated a team of full time employees, graduate assistants, and interns.• Nurtured economic development by mentoring and coaching clients in the Coastal Bend with innovative solutions to real issues.Key accomplishments:• Assisted more than 130 companies from September 2009 to July 2016.• Developed and implemented program service model that has been replicated in two other business incubators. • Secured over $800,000 of funding per year through State, Federal, and incentive programs. • Facilitated the creation and managed the South Coast Angel Network (SCAN)-member of the Alliance of Texas Angel Networks with over 30 angel investors that have invested over $900,000 in the first year of operations• Expanded soft-landing program by leading the “Idea” Incubator Program to provide 14 days of advanced manufacturing training and international trade workshops for Pacific Alliance countries (Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Chile) in Corpus Christi, sponsored by the U.S. State Department. • Assisted with development for “Weather on Wheels” application and “Cartofusion” mapping company as the first two commercialization efforts from Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi.

• Manage and mentor students, develop and maintain relationship with clients, TAMU-CC, and funding agencies.• Assist more than 40 clients in 13 different industry clusters in funding development and strategies, including grants, angel and venture capital investments • Manage and track reporting of data on the progress of the Innovation Center for funding agencies such as Economic Development Administration (EDA), State of Texas, Corpus Christi, and Texas A&M Corpus Christi • Served on an EDA task force to help them enhance their reporting system • Enhance efficiency and productivity through budget inputs and proposals to the Director • Represent the Coastal Bend Business Innovation Center at Economic Development Administration National Summit conferences throughout the United States

Co-founded this group in 2008 with the goal of cultivating young leaders while creating a stronger community. In 2013 the YBP reached over 300 members in South Texas.

The Innovation Competition encourages the creation of innovative new products, services, technologies, or business processes or significant improvements of existing products, services, technologies, or business processes. The competition is open to all Coastal Bend residents. It is specifically targeted to students 18 years old and above. As the chair for the competition, I lead the team to bring the innovation competition to life including but not limited to, the initial proposal and execution plan. The competition had 18 submissions in less than 2 weeks and now it is an annual event in South Texas.

The Coastal Bend Business Plan Competition emerged from a grass-roots effort to support economic growth. The competition was inspired to support the best and the brightest entrepreneurial minds to start and build their businesses locally with a prize package of valuable services and expertise designed to jumpstart the business. The Innovation Center served as the administrator of the Competition and we moved it from a paper-based program to online competition achieving 120% more applicants and reducing our total evaluation time by over two weeks. Finalists of this Competition have received over $1,000,000 in investment.
