Brought through process development ready for FAT at client.• Ice Cream machine – lead and delivered the project to design, prototype and manufacture 50-off novel ice cream machines for commercial use in a very short time. Rapid prototyping techniques, paralleled activities with managed risk to condense timeframes.• Diagnostic device – lead and delivered a project to design and develop an ATEX-approved diagnostic device for field use that was suitable for manufacture in low volumes, using unusual fluid-management techniques. Control system, software and UI, pumps, valves and reagent handling. • Uninterruptible power supply for medical VPAP ventilator – turn key project to design and transfer to a contract manufacturer. Rechargeable Li-Ion batteries, electronics and software, injection moulding, assembly, collation of technical file, supplier management.

For complex, JIT sequenced, safety-critical assemblies from an 8000m2 factory, I oversaw a successful and profitable manufacturing launch of £150m pa BMW MINI cockpit, dashboard, centre console and doors for the first (2001) and second time (2004). I expanded my team from 9 to 27 people, and developed new capabilities and processes:• project leadership – meaningful project reviews and gateways• process engineering – requirements, trials and development• supplier tooling management• supplier quality - introduced deliberate supplier management based on APQP• engineering change management and BOMs - introduced and managed new engineering change process, that processed around 10 changes per week, and obtained impact input and buy-in from other stakeholders in the factory and at the customer.
