Key outcomes:Surveillance - Set up an enhanced surveillance system for carbapenemase producing organisms (CPO) in Scotland through data linkage between laboratory results and data on hospital admissions, medicines use and patient outcomes. I developed the surveillance protocol, an enhanced surveillance questionnaire and completed all documents necessary for information governance approval. This work was accepted as a poster presentation at ESCAIDE 2016. - Evaluated the burden of Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MPN) infections in Scotland between seasons 2009/10 and 2015/16 through linkage between laboratory, hospitalisation and mortality data. Outbreak investigations - Led the epidemiological investigations of a large cyclosporiasis outbreak in the UK linked with travel to Mexico. I developed a database combining data from collected questionnaires, laboratory data and HPzone records. The outbreak investigation and public health recommendations were published as a peer-reviewed manuscript in Eurosurveillance and accepted as a late-breaker poster presentation at ESCAIDE 2016. - Estimation of the size of a norovirus outbreak in restaurant customers using capture-recapture methodology. Alongside the main outbreak investigation, I led the epidemiological analysis and this work was accepted as a poster presentation at ESCAIDE 2017.Research - Conducted a research project on HIV infections among people who inject drugs in Glasgow. I developed the research protocol, conducted descriptive and multivariable analysis and identified key recommendations. This work was accepted as an oral presentation at TEPHINET 2017 and ESCAIDE 2017.Teaching: - Delivered lectures on influenza infection and facilitated case-studies on a vaccine preventable disease outbreak to students of the Masters in Public Health of the University of Glasgow.

This situation required a coordinated response and the ability to work under pressure in a complex political environment. - Responsible for surveillance reporting during the "XX Commonwealth Games" in Glasgow, 2014. I developed the surveillance protocol and training materials, was responsible for training of staff and participated in the routine surveillance activities. I also supported the development of new surveillance systems (e.g. daily laboratory reporting, daily excess mortality monitoring, Twitter and NHS24 website analysis).
