I was promoted to Director for Utilities and Horticulture Responsible for all industrial painting, vegetation management and Horticulture work streams. With an excellent team and a strong growth mandate, this was an exciting new position in which I grew the industrial painting business to £10m p.a. and was responsible for 2 major contract change programs, increasing profitability through productivity increases and safety improvements across the vegetation management business. I also led some significant contractual challenges which resulted in a positive and fair outcome for all stakeholders.

I was offered a full time role as director of tower painting after acting as consultant and then interim manager for OCS through Bulwark Management Services.I was responsible for the Industrial painting division in OCS. Responsible for all aspects of the contract from pricing to delivering high quality work, safely and to budget. With full P+L responsibility, I improved profitability, safety performance and streamlined processes. I expanded the business from £3.5m p.a to circa £6.5m p.a, winning painting frameworks with Cadent Gas and National Grid sub station painting as well as re-winning the tower painting framework

As ROM, I was responsible for mobilising the tower painting sector which was a new industry to Fountains as well as myself. I grew the sector from a £3.5m pa business to a £5m business. Always putting safety, quality and people first with great customer service and good value for money. I also led the turn around of a national vegetation management contract in 2017 which was losing circa £300k per month to a profitable position before handing it over to the new management team. The contract now makes circa £300k pm.

Contract manager on various vegetation management contracts including National Grid and two other vegetation management contracts over this period- Bedfordshire county council vegetation management and Area 8 highways grass and vegetation management contracts - both were in loss making positions when I started but turned into high profit contracts under my tenure. While working in this role, Fountains were successful in winning a tower painting contract, which I was seconded on to.Contract Manager on a tower painting and maintenance contract with National Grid (£3.1 M) since May 2011. This was a new project which I was responsible for mobilising and delivering - £3.5 million PA. Managing 3 team managers with a total staffing level of 46 people.
