The Winnower is an innovative science publishing platform that employs open post-publication peer review. The Winnower aims to revolutionize how science is communicated by breaking down the barriers to scientific communication.I was involved as a Web software engineer with an academic background. I acted as a bridge between the journal CEO and the software development company implementing the platform.My responsibilities for this pro-bono activity included front- and back-end development for refining the visitors' reading and publishing experience. In particular, my aim was to improve the trustworthiness of the journal perceived through its website and the published articles (HTML and PDF). Finally, I improved the journal's metadata production for proper indexing in academic search engines.
