As the Project Manager for Digital Health Interoperability, I initiated a CIO-sponsored project to establish the integration and interoperability foundations for Tasmania’s Digital Health Transformation. The project involved extensive discovery and analysis, including interaction with Federal Health Agencies and most of the State Government Health Departments in other jurisdictions around Australia. I supported the project’s requirements development, current and future state architecture, and delivery planning. I also managed another project to upgrade the Department’s Health Integration Engine, where I ensured quality and business continuity of this critical service though thorough change management and end-to-end testing.My experience in Health provided me with a detailed knowledge specific to Health Information Exchanges (HIE), FHIR, HL7, integration engines (Rhapsody). As part of the role I worked with multiple jurisdictions and have a good understanding of healthcare interoperability across the Nation.

Heading up the Cloud Automation stream for Hydro Tasmania, I was responsible for leading highly technical resources deploying highly complex cloud capabilities, for a ~$10m multi-year series of projects directly aligned to the organisation’s digital transformation objectives.I was engaged as a Technical Business Analyst, a Solution Architect and then Technical Project Manager to stabilise the project through its lifecycle and ultimately deliver tangible benefits to the customer. The solution I architected required the integration of multiple platform level technologies including Azure, vSphere, Windows, RedHat Linux, Puppet, Terraform, GitHub, Azure DevOps, Active Directory and many more. As solution architect then project manager I oversaw the successful delivery of this high-value and complex integration solution. Leading edge technologies were in scope, that required strong multi-vendor management, and upskilling of internal resources to meet the project outcomes, resulting in a wholesale change from ‘full manual service’ to ‘Infrastructure as a Service’ (IaaS) and ‘Platform as a Service’ (PaaS) using tenancies featuring self-service catalogues with robust guardrails and cyber security controls.These projects were career defining for me, setting myself on the path for future Solution Architect / Cloud Architect certification and roles.

IS-ON is my own consulting and professional services business. I provided Hydro Tasmania and other business' with solution architecture, software development, technical project management, technical business analysis & consulting services. I also architected a line of business application for another health organisation and conducted a number of research and development tax incentive applications for clients.

As a registered Tax Agent specialising in the R&D Tax Incentive I help companies ensure their compliance with the R&D Tax Incentive, I have claimed over $7M in refunded R&D Tax Incentive offsets over the past 15 years that I’ve been working with the incentive. I've had dozens of successful AusIndustry reviews of my clients Registered Research and Development Activities, none with adverse outcomes.

As the founding entrepreneur I performed all the architecture functions for QikID’s product offerings including software/system architecture, infrastructure architecture as well as all the design functions including user interface, algorithm etc. I raised more than $10m in capital and ran highly technical teams including ~15 senior software developers and operations staff over the 5 years.As solution architect, I architected foundation integrations for QikID and QikDETEKT of different technologies for biometric identification, camera, other image reading technologies, distributed computing technologies all through a central API architecture.Highlights• QikID’s cloud-based video facial recognition system ‘QikDETEKT’ was the first system of its type world-wide. I was responsible for design of both the business logic and algorithms that enabled persons to be identified from vast databases held in the cloud within seconds even given bandwidth limitations (ADSL at the time). • QikID, being cloud based API, had a “zero-touch if this then that” style horizontally saleable architecture, which I designed. I performed all the architecture and design functions for this capability.• QikID was multi-tenanted. This affords the platform a great deal of power and flexibility however, this also presented several legal and privacy regulation challenges as the platform provided facial recognition identification and document (e.g. passport/license) identification services. The architecture I delivered needed to consider the privacy and security requirements. • QikID was one of only two providers certified to provide ID scanning services in Queensland, where it is mandatory to have patron ID scanning in place in late night venues. Being Government-mandated ID scanning, there were privacy & security considerations. I performed all the solution architecture, technical business analysis and design functions as well as managed all the regulatory certification and compliance.

As the entrepreneur I performed all the architecture functions for Neotechnology’s product offerings including software/system architecture, infrastructure architecture as well as all the design functions including user interface, algorithm etc. I raised over $10m in capital and ran highly technical teams including ~35 software developers and operations staff over the 10 years.As the solution architect I architected every aspect of the core product and dozens of integrations with a variety of services such as payment solutions, general ledgers, ERP solutions, ecommerce solutions; these integrations were both rich and bi-directional requiring both ends of the integration be kept in sync for whole of enterprise delivery for the customer. One strategic value add of the product was that distinct database instances of the product could be kept in sync using an integration layer I architected, allowing for enterprise-grade reliability in challenging and poor quality network environments (such as pacific island nations which were very underdeveloped at the time). Highlights• I designed the entire POS & ERP package ‘Amicus’ which is Neotechnology’s key product. Amicus which is an enterprise-class ($100m+ turnover) Point of Sale and Inventory Management System. I performed all the solution architecture and design functions as well as managed all the regulatory certification and compliance.• I project managed dozens of customised rollouts of Amicus including some very large rollouts to 100M+ businesses. Projects were very complex and technical spanning multiple year deliveries. • I managed a staff of up to 20 during the peak of the software development phases.• I provided the lead technical business analysis on a consulting contract with NTT of Japan (world’s second largest telecommunications company) to assess the commercial feasibility of marketing their ‘WIFI on trains’ project in Europe.

I started working for Dytech Solutions as a Tester when I was in university. The day I finished my last exam I started work with Dytech as a Junior Technical Business Analyst. I was fortunate enough to have access to extremely good mentors while working for UXC/Dytech who helped me develop as a professional. I quickly progressed from Junior Technical Business Analyst to Technical Business Analyst and within 2 years was promoted to Senior Technical Business Analyst on a multi-million-dollar 4-year project to deliver the Tasmanian Fines & Infringement Notice Database (FIND). The project was unique in that it had a very specific accounting model that was required to support the complex business requirements in addition to several other layers of complexity.In my role as Senior Technical Business Analyst, I learned a great deal about client relationship management, negotiation, business requirements gathering, collaborative design and persuasion as well as acquiring and refining my technical skills in software development, systems engineering, quality assurance and the like.As Senior Technical Business Analyst I designed the functional integration of FIND with a number of other government systems for payment processing, speed camera infringements, the courts management system (CRIMES), Centrelink, BPAY, DirectDebit and many others. The solution included extensive use of API technologies and an enterprise service bus (MuleSoft) for integrations.
