Also manage supplier contracts, chipmill contracts, railroad contracts, freight optimization, and capital project justification. Management and coordination of fiber deliveries into the Savannah mill as well as deliveries into other IP facilities as necessary. Fiber supply management, sourcing and cost management, forecasting, logistics, and inventory management.

Directly budgeted and managed ~$130MM annual spend procuring > 3MM tons of pine fiber within a 180 mile range from Fernandina. Directed team of 15 employees responsible for meeting consumption demand of virgin fiber mill. Safely provided the highest quality, lowest cost fiber, while managing inventories at strategic levels at multiple fiber processing locations. Responsible for all P & L activity. Freight optimization from all sourcing to ensure fiber was reaching final destination at lowest cost to the system.• Implemented sustainable roundwood quality inspection program that gave visibility to supplier quality issues, developed metric to track supplier offenses, and increased roundwood yield saving. Adjusted wood specifications at each processing facility to optimize chip yield based on the fiber loss limitations of the facility.• Implemented supplier PPE changes that improved supplier safety and lowered corporate risk. • Managed 2 contract satellite chipmill facilities and associated contract, utilizing the efficiencies of each operation in fiber sourcing strategy and optimal system inventory requirements to minimize cost. Adjusted strategy to support changes in fiber market conditions, weather events, supplier quality, and wood yield.• Empowered team through the encouragement of respect, trust, and dedication to make the best data based decisions for our employer, while maintaining strong relationships with loggers, landowners, and virgin fiber consuming facility. Implemented weekly Fiber Alignment meetings with mill management to provide updates on market conditions, quality issues, and changes or adjustments in strategy.• Completed successful negotiation of contract wet storage facility to supplement virgin fiber supply during extended periods of rainfall. Developed a business plan that doubled the capacity of the wet yard after the first year.

Trained 6 months with McKinsey & Co. developing unique fiber procurement analytics and strategies. Served as Team Leader, capturing $15MM+ annual savings in 2010 against $700MM annual virgin fiber spend at multiple facilities across the United States and Canada. The project was rolled out across the entire company.• Remained at facilities for several months to monitor savings and adjust strategy where necessary.• Communicated directly with executive management and further developed my presentation skills. At conclusion of project, the Vice President of Forest Resources asked my preference for the location I could deliver the greatest cost savings as leader. Promoted to lead the highly competitive Fernandina procurement basin.

Responsible for all virgin fiber supply (open market and stumpage) from the two state area delivered to virgin hardwood paper mill and sawmill in Alabama. Led a team of four foresters to deliver the highest quality, lowest cost fiber to facilities.

MeadWestvaco (merger of Mead Corp and Westvaco Corp)Multiple positions of responsibility including wood procurement, land management, and biofuel procurement. Developed an extensive network of approximately 100 biofuel and chip suppliers. Managed the day to day operations at a satellite woodyard on the Cumberland Plateau. Led effort from ground up to purchase land, build woodyard, and develop supply base for woodyard.

Worked with legislators and grass root efforts to support policy and legislation that benefited landowners, loggers, and forest industry.

Led TFA’s legislative efforts to successfully halt the National Resource Defense Council’s protest of forest management activities on the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee.
