The role entailed managing the data science engineering team, the ETL team, and the initial egress into the BI/business model layer. Data Science Engineering - The team was responsible for running an ad serving engine capable of responding to billions of ad requests daily whilst drawing on the outputs of the statistical+ML models built by the DS team. The engine also accounted for a host of business rules enforced by our ad partners to ensure effective targeting and delivery of ads.ETL - The ETL team was responsible for managing the infrastructure used by the data scientists to train models, ingest the ad event stream from the engineering side, maintain a datawarehouse for long-term storage, and the data lake used by the BI/Analytics team for downstream analysis.In addition to a BI engineer, the role involved scoping and planning infrastructure needs, budgets, and vendor contracts for the DS/DSE/ETL teams.
