Worked with early stage companies in 3 month stints to drive MVPs and get them from pre-seed to seed. I worked on green field projects where founders were the domain experts and I was bringing data/software engineering expertise to build out and iterate on their 0->1 efforts. Ended up repeating this process/investing mechanism with three sets of founders/teams and moved to a consulting/advisory/hiring role afterwards.

Productionalizing data science models and scaling Tapjoy's backend ad serving solution. The role entailed managing the data science engineering team, the ETL team, and the initial egress into the BI/business model layer. Data Science Engineering - The team was responsible for running an ad serving engine capable of responding to billions of ad requests daily whilst drawing on the outputs of the statistical+ML models built by the DS team. The engine also accounted for a host of business rules enforced by our ad partners to ensure effective targeting and delivery of ads.ETL - The ETL team was responsible for managing the infrastructure used by the data scientists to train models, ingest the ad event stream from the engineering side, maintain a datawarehouse for long-term storage, and the data lake used by the BI/Analytics team for downstream analysis.In addition to a BI engineer, the role involved scoping and planning infrastructure needs, budgets, and vendor contracts for the DS/DSE/ETL teams.

During this time, I worked on a handful of high-impact projects, sitting outside the normal product charters to deliver against gnarly problems/bugs.Scaling video delivery in China - As the Tapjoy network expanded in China, we found issues with the performance of our ad delivery - high-level funnel metrics and user experience was impacted leading to lower ad performance in certain geos. By optimizing payloads (JS, video content) on the backend, the performance was brought in line with our top-tier geos.Video Optimization - In the course of analyzing the overall network performance, I detected and plugged a few leaks in the APIs between our engineering and data science team to lift the overall run rate significantly.

Working on the architecture team, we managed the Device Identity system used internally at Tapjoy - resolving device identifiers and mapping them to an internal identifier to allow users to be rewarded with virtual currency consistently.

Technical Product Lead for the PathFinder project. Managed a team of 10 engineers to deliver a webapp capable of detecting the spread of hospital acquired infections within various hospital systems.
