As part of the research, I endeavoured to answer two fundamental questions - Whether or not the adopted commercial kitchen has optimum thermal comfort? and How kitchen's thermal comfort can be improved? Existing thermal comfort levels of the kitchen were assessed based on ISO, ASHRAE and AIRAH standards. Through an accurately devised data collection procedure, thermo-fluid distribution of the kitchen was mapped and then modelled into ANSYS CFX software. Lastly, series of CFD simulations were conducted to test for improved comfort levels. Summary of the tasks completed:- Evaluated thermal comfort levels in a commercial kitchen using ISO, ASHRAE and AIRAH standards.- Devised a data collection procedure to measure environmental parameters - Temperature, Air Velocity and Humidity.- Developed and validated a CFD simulation that represents kitchen's thermo-fluid air distribution.- Conducted series of CFD tests to investigate improved comfort levels.
