About Dhira Dharmakusuma
Dhira (she/her) is a second-year student at the University of British Columbia's Faculty of Arts pursuing a major in Political Science and International Relations. Born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia, Dhira has a strong curiosity in education policy, political education, and public policy - nationally and globally. She is the co-founder of Merakit Mimpi, a youth-centred Sustainable Development Goals education initiative, and is the first Indonesian Teen Advisor at Girl Up, United Nations Foundation, where she concentrates her advocacy on girls’ education and leadership. Dhira hopes to leverage her studies to rethink education as a practice of global empowerment and create more discussion spaces in policymaking where youth and women are favoured.
