  • Dartmouth College
    Lecturer
    Dartmouth College Aug 2015 - Jul 2022
    Hanover, Nh, Us
As a full-time Lecturer at Dartmouth, I teach First Year writing (2 levels) and upper division Science writing. All classes emphasize audience, cross-disciplinarity, and multi-modality. Students work on an e-Portfolio (Wordpress, provided by Dartmouth to all students) and we discuss the web-design and other visual elements as we compose appropriate prose elements. The upper division Science writing course targets engineering and technology, in particular, though it is open to students working in all STEM fields. I emphasize use of narrative modes to enhance engagement, comprehensibility and clarity. Students prepare proposals, academic essays, reports, literature reviews, websites, presentations (transcending mere PPT decks). My own academic writing includes a range of proposals for papers and grants, conference presentations, academic papers, text-book contributions, teaching support materials, and of course actual courses including syllabus, assignments, text selection, Webpage, short lessons, etc.
