Leading the AI and News workstream at Partnership on AI. Working with social media, tech and news companies, think tanks and NGOs to understand how AI policies and interventions can help minimize the harmful impact of AI in their industries and address critical challenges to the quality of public discourse. - Worked with a Steering Committee of journalists, newsroom representatives and civil society experts to write and publish the AI Adoption Guide for Newsrooms - Trained more than 1000 journalists and newsroom executives in the responsible use of AI in newsrooms - Developed an AI tools toolkit including a database of tools and adoption framework for newsrooms - Led a Community of Practice on AI and News (2023) and a Community of Practice on AI and Elections (2024)

Researching, writing and delivering the best policy advice on AI and emerging tech. Awarded the public service excellence Amethyst Award for my role in helping write and pass the Simpler, Faster, Better Government Services Act included in Budget 2019, the first digital government Act for the Province of Ontario. Provided policy advice and leadership in implementing the COVID Alert Exposure Notification App in coordination with Shopify and Blackberry. This includes vetting vendors, creating a vendor evaluation framework and providing key privacy advice, and assessing societal and policy impact of the product launch.Currently writing the Government of Ontario's approach to AI governance and policy. The CanStudyUS Fellowship is a leadership program that provides participants with insights into US policy-making and politics on topics like climate change, Indigenous rights, and misinformation.I got the opportunity to participate as a leadership fellow and facilitator leading conversations with other fellows, directing conversations and providing thoughtful questions to further the fellows' learnings.

Worked with the Open Government team to champion access to government data and information within government. This included stakeholder engagement with more than 20 ministries and many external organizations including universities, research institutions and startups. During my tenure I was able to launch Colby, the government's internal data portal and launch the government's first open access to its policies and directives. https://www.ontario.ca/page/sharing-government-directives-policies This entailed:- liasing with ministries and government agencies to post government data, directives and policies online- conducting training for various Ontario Government Ministries on Open Government and digital policy- Creating transition decks and policy papers for the new Ontario Government- drafting big ideas proposals for the government's consideration to make the Ontario Government more accountable and transparent- leading the launch of the new Ontario government internal data portal and drafting remarks for the Deputy Minister at the launch- engaging with the open government community, agencies, universities to advance open government projects and use of data- Organizing and facilitating calls and round tables with municipal, provincial and federal government around data standards- Setting quality standards for and reviewing data sets and publications before they are made public

Facilitated public consultations on behalf of Side Walk Labs on their proposals for Queens Quay project Facilitated 5 public consultations across the GTHA on the future of Transportation on behalf of Metrolinx.Consultations included: - Chairing discussions in round table format and in open discussions - Mediating conversations amongst attendees with opposing views and facilitating smooth discussions- Taking meticulous notes of the ongoing discussions to capture attendees opinions

Chaired and ran the first policy innovation hackathon at the School of Public Policy at the University of Toronto. The hackathon was attended by 100 government professionals, subject matter experts and students and produced policy proposals in 3 policy areas.Other responsibilities included:- Created a year plan for the Initiative's events and direction for the year- Managed a team of volunteers and policy students to plan and execute workshops on digital policy throughout the year- Engaged with field experts in various policy areas and invite them to speak, judge and advise policy students on how to better innovate in their thinking and research of policy solutions.- Created a network of policy analysts and students interested in innovation and bring them together for various events and meetings

Produced and hosted various episodes on the show discussing major policy issues in Canada. This included:- Conducting background research on the show's topics- Contacting and liasing with guests that will be on the show - Hosting the show and preparing questions for the show - Pitching show ideas to the show's directors - Audio engineering and editing the show's episodes Beyond the Headlines (BTH) is a one-hour current affairs radio show aimed at providing a greater understanding and thoughtful discussion of the various policy issues in our daily news headlines.

Developed and implemented a plan for information management at Toronto Fire Services that aligns with City policies. Worked directly with the Fire Chief's Office to identify and define information management needs and reporting requirements. Responsibilities Include: - Conducted primary research including stakeholder meetings and staff interviews - Conducted secondary research including review of promising information management practices and plans (internal and external to the City)- Keep management updated with progress and establishing buy-in for key milestones- Developed options and recommendations for optimal information management practices, processes and procedures - Developed a detailed implementation plan and determining key success measures- Oversaw and supported the implementation of plan- Developed training materials and coordinating training sessions - Ensured all activities, reports, processes and materials support and align with the City's Information Management Accountability Policy.

Designed a business case to facilitate the implementation of the Toronto Strengthening Neighbourhood Strategy 2020 for the City of Toronto.Responsibilities included: - Interviewing current employees, researching past policy and looking into current policy to understand the resources needed to implement this strategy.- Created a final report with the issues and solutions we have found in the project and its structure.

Working primarily on the JHR project in Jordan, heading the marketing plan for the app developed in Jordan to be marketed to youth and journalists.Researching articles and reports on inequality and human rights violations in the Middle East. Researching ways to engage youth and journalists with JHR. Translating articles and journalism materials from Arabic to English (and vice versa)Monitoring project progress and adjusting timelines accordingly.
