About Michael Dhatemwa
I am a passionate and results-driven Project Manager with a strong dedication to Climate Justice and sustainable development. Currently, I lead the African Activists for Climate Justice (AACJ) project at Oxfam Novib, a pioneering initiative funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). This project is part of a consortium effort aimed at empowering African communities and activists to advocate for climate justice, amplify their voices on global platforms, and drive meaningful change at both grassroots and policy levels. In my role, I manage and coordinate the Oxfam portfolio within this consortium, ensuring our strategies align with the overarching goals of the AACJ project while addressing the unique challenges identified by Oxfam and its partners. I oversee every aspect of the project—from strategic planning and stakeholder engagement to execution and impact assessment—collaborating closely with a diverse team of dedicated professionals and partner organizations across Africa. What truly excites me about this work is the opportunity to contribute to a global movement focused not only on mitigating the effects of climate change but also on addressing systemic inequalities and fostering resilience in the communities most affected. I am particularly engaged in issues of climate inequality, financing for adaptation, Just Energy Transition, Loss and Damage, and the prioritization of these areas by national governments in their revised NDCs.With a strong background in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL), project leadership, advocacy, social justice, and sustainable development, I am committed to advancing the agenda of climate justice in Africa and beyond. I am always keen to connect with like-minded professionals, activists, and organizations to explore opportunities for collaboration and share insights on creating a more just, fair, and sustainable future.
