Daniel Hecht is Senior Managing Director & General Counsel at Freepoint Commodities and has held this role since the firm was founded. He has twenty years of experience working in the financial services and commodities markets and is recognized as an expert in regulatory matters, compliance matters, and structuring complex deals involving parties located in different countries. Prior to joining Freepoint Commodities, Daniel was Managing Director and Chief Litigation and Regulatory Counsel at RBS Sempra Commodities, responsible for managing the global compliance program and overseeing the litigation, regulatory, and employment law functions. He assisted with the multi-billion dollar sale of RBS Sempra to JP Morgan and Noble Americas, and joined the executive team from RBS Sempra that founded Freepoint. Daniel is a graduate of Harvard College, and was awarded his J.D. from the New York University School of Law. He has represented commodity trading and financial services firms including Sempra Energy Trading, Goldman Sachs, Societe Generale, Bear Stearns, Chase Capital Partners, Credit Suisse, and UBS. Daniel lives with his wife and their two children in Larchmont, NY. He is a member of the Harvard 1636 Society, Harvard Associates Program, and Weill Cornell’s Partners in Medicine.
