Going to the office no longer requires a long commute or dress code. And relying solely on traditional forms of communication is a horrible strategy. This change is permanent. We must change with it. Our internal and external customers demand that we communicate how they want to consume information. They want access to relevant information no matter where they are. During my 3+ decades of marketing experience, I’ve watched as technological advancement has impacted the way we communicate and market our services. Cell phones have replaced landlines. Email replaced postcards. The internet opened the doors to personal communication, and social media connects billions of people with little effort. What’s next? AI, here we come!!! At a recent annual evaluation, I was told I am exceptionally Action-Oriented. I enjoy working hard and am full of energy for the things I find challenging. I am not fearful of acting with a minimum of planning and information, seizing more opportunities. ‘Learning on the Fly’ was another attribute that received high marks. Is that like flying by the seat of your pants? I learn quickly when facing new problems. I am a versatile learner who listens intently and is open to change, analyzing successes and failures for clues. I am not afraid to experiment and try new things to find solutions. I have been accused of being direct, providing the unvarnished truth, hopefully, most appropriately and helpfully. When I make mistakes, I own them. If I don’t know something, I ask questions.
